Greetings, my name is Deana. I am currently certified in Canadian drug and alcohol counselling through CACCF, have a Human Service Worker Diploma and am a certified medication assisted treatment specialist, trained in the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies for the treatment of substance use disorders. I am also a former Crisis Line Responder, formally trained in suicide and crisis intervention. As well, I am the founder and director of a non-profit organization which raises funds to help those in active addiction.
I prioritize diversity and inclusion within my practice and always use a trauma informed response when working with clients. I offer confidential, non-biased and authentic support, as I strongly believe that trust is the key component in making connections, which ultimately provides a safe space for clients to seek support.
I have spent a lifetime turning to drugs and alcohol to deal with my issues or any crisis that presented itself, as well as self medicating to cope with my mental health, trauma and grief. Along the way, I learned that no amount of substances could lead me out of the darkness. Through committed work, a twelve step program and a relationship with my Creator, I have learned to accept life on life’s terms and to find peace and joy within my heart, despite the challenges that life inevetibaly offers.
In recovery, I have found that there is an abundance of love and light all around us and I am both honoured and humbled to share this journey with you
