Hello, my name is Shelley Kiefiuk and I am the Program Director at Red Road Ranch.
I am eager to use my knowledge and skills in the areas of strategic planning, human resource management and mentoring, project development and management, property management, addictions and mental health, and diversity and inclusion towards creating a beautiful place of tranquility, safety and healing for not only individuals seeking change and freedom from their addictions, but staff as well.
I have 14 years' experience in the Non-Profit sector working with community members who were houseless and/or struggling with their mental health and addictions. Assisting individuals through all Six Stages of Change, I developed programs from street level outreach to homeless shelter services, supportive housing, transitional housing and eventually into independent affordable housing.
I have seen three immediate family members through the darkness of addiction and into the light of recovery. That journey gave me completely new insight and understanding of the long-lasting effects of trauma. Seeing things through a familial lens reinforced my desire to advocate for and develop sober supportive housing where individuals can enjoy the sense of community, connection, and belonging that is imperative for true healing and personal growth regardless of their past or present experiences. Sharing the personal lessons I have learned with others who are supporting their own family members along their journey to wellness is extremely meaningful to me.
-Everyone is somebody’s someone.
Good day my name is Kyle, I am a support worker and currently finishing my schooling to become an addictions counsellor. Before starting this journey I was battling with depression and trying to drown my demons. I tried to put all my energy into my trades work and the result was crippling anxiety; always worrying about the future and needing another coping mechanism. Instead, I learned what a happy, joyous and free life was through the 12 steps and walking the red road with my brothers and sisters in recovery.
Through the native teachings and spiritual connection to Mother Earth I found peace. Having found a life worth living sober I began to share the message of hope with others. While helping others recover from their battle with addiction I knew that this was my purpose.
At Red Road Recovery our team has not only lived through the darkness but we’ve come through the other side and can show you how to light the path to recovery. I believe if you can bring the willingness we can bring the tools to help you recover.
Hi, my name is Ciaran, I am a psychotherapist and clinical counsellor. I completed my diploma in Addiction studies in 2006 while working in the addiction field in Ireland. Then completed a Master of Integrated Counselling & Psychotherapy a few years later. I achieved a second master’s in social care management back home in Ireland. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and clinical supervisor (RCC-ASC) through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCCAC).
For the last twenty years I have been working with clients in a counselling and addiction setting. I believe my unique experience and education has helped me gain the knowledge and understanding to support people to flourish in their lives. I use a humanistic and integrated approach to my client work. My therapeutic approaches are tailored to meet the needs of each client. I implement an integrative approach that consists of a variety of therapeutic techniques. This integrative approach will assist the client in developing new awareness and insight around their personal journey of recovery.
My goal is to hold a space that is safe, warm and confidential where the client’s needs are at the forefront of the counselling journey. I join each client on their personal journey walking alongside them providing support through discussion and exploration. I will help clarify your own beliefs, values and priorities, arriving at a place where you can claim your personal freedom by dissolving past trauma. My therapeutic practice is informed by a person-centred and culturally informed counselling approach. I believe every person is the expert on their own life.
Looking forward to meeting you at the Ranch ,
I first started this earth journey in 1967 but got lost on the black road at age 13 (1980). It took until 1995 for me to first hear of and start my journey on the red road. All I know is today, after stumbling along both paths, my life always becomes amazing when I walk and stay on the red road. Connected to creator and my brothers and sisters basking in the light of the great spirit, my life is better than it ever was or could be alone on the black road surrounded and filled with "the darkness”.
All my relations.
Hi! My name is Steve Braun, a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and Certified Recovery Coach. I am excited to be a part of the Red Road team!
Guiding people in transforming their lives and breaking free from the grips of addiction is my greatest passion. With 15 years of personal sobriety and over a decade working in the field of mental health and addiction, I have helped hundreds of individuals at various stages of change and recovery.
I am honoured to bring my passion and experience to the Red Road Ranch where I hope to instigate change using a trauma informed, solution-focused, therapeutic approach. In extending the continuum of care prior to, and post treatment, I will be providing virtual 1-1 counselling sessions for Red Road as well as facilitating aftercare support services.
With any free time between my private practice and the Ranch, I love being outdoors fly-fishing and camping with my amazing partner.
Hi, I'm Michelle.
I joined the team at Red Road Ranch in April 2024. In the role of Community Support Worker, I have the privilege of working closely with residents to help plan their 'aftercare' as they move through their journey of recovery. My role involves collaborating with a variety of community resources to ensure each person has the support they need to achieve their recovery goals. The foundation of my work is built on compassion and empathy, and it is truly rewarding to be part of someone’s journey, helping people successfully transition back into society, free from addiction, and continue on their path to lasting recovery.
March 1st, 2010 I admitted I was powerless over all mind altering substances, and my recovery journey began. I receieved a Big Book and started working the 12 steps of recovery with a sponsor. I remained in treatment and was blessed to be asked to remain as an employee doing intakes and support for the 12 step program. I have remained in the field for over a decade and have continued to do upgrading in the field. The 12 steps of recovery have blessed me with so much Hope, Faith and Courage over the years.
As I travel the road of recovery, I have but one message to the still suffering addict: There is a solution, we can recover, one day at a time it is possible to live a life full of (HOPE, FAITH & COURAGE).

Hello! My name is Daniel Ricard, and I look forward to meeting you. I am a support worker and experience enthusiast. Prior to getting sober the only experiences that I looked forward to were the ones that involved drinking, and lots of it. Every sober moment was excruciatingly painful and dull. Life seemed like a hopeless journey with a destination of nothingness. That was until I was done suffering and surrendered myself to something I didn’t even necessarily believe at the time. God if you will, the universe, the great outdoors, divine guidance.
I was then lead through the doors of a 12 step meeting that very morning, full of fear and filled with tears. I don’t even remember what everyone said that day, but what I do remember was that I didn’t feel alone anymore. There was a solution! These people were laughing and sober. Their stories resembled mine in many ways despite their age, race, creed, career, or religious denomination. They couldn’t leave alcohol alone no matter how bad the consequences were. As a result, they were left hopeless that they could stop drinking and that life could be better. That’s exactly how I felt too! One was too many and a thousand wasn’t enough.
Today, those feelings have vanished. I have a purpose in my life today. I love to experience the things that the world has to offer, sober. This feeling used to seem like an impossibility when I was in active addiction. To be free from the obsession to drink alcohol or use drugs is an absolute gift. All it took was honesty, willingness, and an open mind. If I can do it, you can too.
Greetings, my name is Richard.
I have been clean and an active part of the local recovery community for a few years now.
My drug use spanned many years and included most all of the associated consequences of addiction. Through a power greater than myself I was able to find recovery and a new way of life.
I am grateful to be given the opportunity to share that new way of life at my job at Red Road Recovery.
There is nothing more rewarding than affecting change in another addict and watching addicted people discover freedom for the first time in their lives.
Hi, my name is Renée I have been clean and sober since February 2021. I am currently finishing the third year of my psychology degree and I am working towards a Masters in Counselling. I am excited to pass on the wisdom I have been taught through the 12 steps to the clients at Red Road Recovery.
I really enjoy working with people and love sharing my experience, strength and hope to help everyone I can on their own journeys. Recovery has taught me a new way to live, today I enjoy hiking, swimming in the lake and going to the gym.
Having overcome my addiction and finding a new way of life through working the 12 steps, I’m delighted to share my experience strength and hope with others. I am currently finishing my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. My combination of lived experience and schooling aids me in supporting those who are struggling, helping them work towards living a life free from substances. The greatest gift is to witness the light come back into the eyes of those who have suffered in the grips of addiction. I am grateful every day to be a part of such a wonderful team, dedicated to providing a safe space to heal and grow.
I have been part of the recovery community for many years and love to see people find freedom from active addiction. The 12 steps has given me many tools to support a healthy lifestyle and follow my dreams. I was taught along the way the importance of sharing that experience with others. It is an honor to be able to help others and be part of the team at Red Road Recovery!
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio.
My name is Jodie, and I have been in recovery since 2004. After several years in active addiction, abusive relationships and experiencing homelessness, I had finally found recovery on December 2nd, 2016. I was extremely hopeless, helpless, and I had no will to live. Since getting into recovery, I have found a relationship with God. My spirituality has grown over my years in recovery. Recovery is hard but worth it. Dealing with childhood trauma by going to counselling has helped me so much in understanding “why” I used drugs and alcohol to cope and numb my feelings. I am currently taking the Community Support Worker- Addictions Worker course through the Academy of Learning College. I would like the opportunity to help others that are struggling in ways I once did.
I have been with Red Road for three months now, and I absolutely love it. The staff are all so knowledgeable and loving towards everyone who comes in. The equine therapy, the sweats, and just being on the Ranch are all such great therapies for recovering addicts. I am so grateful and blessed to be where I am in my life today. I am so hopeful that my life experiences will help someone else in their recovery. Recovery has given me a new freedom that I want to share with others that are struggling.
Hello, my name is Celeste and I am so excited to be taking on the roll of administrative assistant! I am privileged to have grown up in lumby, and have a strong connection to the community. I have a daughter of my own that I am so grateful gets to grow up here as well.
I’m a lover of silver linings and try very hard to live a “glass half full” kind of lifestyle. I have personally watched addiction affect many people I hold near and dear. I am so blessed to be a part of such an amazing team of people!
Hello, my name is Lynzie, a Chef at Red Road Ranch.
Mother to a wonderful sixteen-year- old son, whom I couldn’t be prouder. I’m a nature enthusiast and I absolutely love animals. When I’m not working here at the ranch, I’m working on the house I started building 18 years ago(phew almost done). It’s off grid and has had many challenges but it’s taught me so much about life. I also like sleeping and food.
Cooking has been a passion most of my life but I’ve been in the food industry for fifteen years.
I love cooking and I cook with lots of love.
Food amazes me, the versatility is beyond a life’s worth of knowledge. From garden to plate is awe inspiring on all accounts. I’m never bored. I love being able to deliver a delicious yet healing spoonful…in most bites😉🍰🧁🍪
Hippocrates said it best, “Let food be thy medicine, medicine be thy food”.
I’m so blessed to share this place with all of the Red Road staff, they are ALL amazing at what they do here!
All of us bring something special individually but create an amazing team as we work together. I find myself missing the ranch when I’m not there, that’s a beautiful thing in my books❤️
I feel blessed to be a part of this community/family and to be of service to the residents. Their transformation makes it exciting to go to work. They never cease to amaze me!
I feel we have something very special happening and I’m so excited to be a part of it.
65 and loving life. Father of four, with nine grandkids. I have worked in the food service industry for many years. The last 30 + have been serving my community through NGO's working to make our community stronger by providing good food and a caring attitude to those around me.
I am passionate about loving people and helping them find their place in the world.
I am also a paragliding instructor/tandem pilot and work at a school here in Lumby.
Taking others into the sky and showing them the joy of free flight is one of my passions. I also enjoy music, cycling and tinkering with computers.
After moving to British Columbia seeking a fresh start, I began a journey of self-discovery and growth. Facing challenges, including my struggle with alcoholism, has deepened my resilience and strengthened my commitment to a healthier life. I’m now an active part of the recovery community, finding purpose in supporting others on their own paths. I also find joy in the beautiful outdoors—quadding through scenic trails, spending time at the lakes, and fishing. These experiences have connected me to nature, grounded me, and inspired me to embrace each day with gratitude.
